Should be glad to know how the matter stands. Canton Govern-

ment hasrecently imported Ryan Aircraft from America.

informed that Chinese are very favourably impressed by them.

French are said to be meditating early inauguration of air line

from Indo-China to Canton. I am afraid that unless it is

possible to make early start with line using British machines

and so demonstrate advantages of British goods the Ameri cans

and French will obtain advantage detrimental to British traders.

I cannot help thinking that British aircraft manufacturers

might do more to push their goods in Southern China where

there are undoubtedly great possibilities.
